1. The NYSE index has been
changed. Dial Data has changed its symbol from *NYE to *NYA.
That has forced a revision to the PEERCOMM program. This change also affects
our
software's ability to get new data on stocks.
The problem is fixed by downloading the revised PEERCOMM.exe
and place it in c:\peercomm.
It will let you update your stock data and get data for new symbols. It will let you
update the indices.
Some of the NYSE index data last year had to be hand-entered. The new NYSE Index
data can be downloaded here. It will also give you the
current DJI, OEX, SP-500, NASDAQ,
Value Line and Hourly DJI. This will be updated here until next Monday night.
After that, you may want to arrange with us to provide this index data. Some additional instructions:
You will want to SAVE the revised peercomm.exe
into the directory C:\peercomm. Click on the link
to it here
and then use the Right-Mouse key. That will cause the
computer to ask: Where to save it? The correct reply is c:\peercomm
Opening it from the web will not save it.
When you save it correctly, you will be asked if you want
the new version to overwrite the old version...The answer is YES.
When you run the new version of PEERCOMM, you will
see the revision date 1-8-2004 at the lower right.
A second correction is also needed to let you build new
directories.
12/12/2003 Dial Data users, once a year update the data files (AA.txt, DATES.txt and
DJI.txt)
in c:\peerless\tigsetup
so that when you build a new stock directory your filler files's dates
will not be more than 2 years
old.) Otherwise, if you have only a 2-years data subscription to Dial Data
and you try to build a new
directory and then use it, you will get an error message. This
fixes that...Click on this
link and OPEN the resulting MDNEWDIR.exe on line. This is
a required fix now also
because Dial Data is missing some of the NYSE data
that is needed in the stock
downloading.
If more fixes are needed, they will be posted here.
